Breaking the Silence Image

One in five Americans has a mental illness, but many are reluctant to seek help or might not know where to turn for care. More than 75 percent of all mental health conditions begin before the age of 24, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which is why college is such a critical time.

Unlike physical conditions, symptoms of mental health and substance use problems can be difficult to detect. For friends and family members, it can be hard to know when and how to step in. As a result, those in need of mental health services often do not get them until it is too late.

Share your creativity: draw & paint with us!

Join Vibrant Health Family Clinic Providers Brittney Matheson, PA-C and Karlyn Peterson, CNM, IBCLC from 10 AM – 2 PM at the UWRF Health Fair on Wednesday, April 11 to draw or paint what “anxiety, depression, eating disorders or substance abuse looks like – or what supporting mental health issues looks like.  The Health Fair is a free interactive event for students, faculty, staff and community members to learn about health related topics and resources on campus and in the community.

Both Vibrant Health Family Clinics practitioners are trained in Mental Health First Aid, an internationally recognized evidence-based program that was created and is managed by the National Council for Behavioral Health that helps participants identify, understand, and respond to signs of addiction and mental illnesses.

Break the silence and share your creativity and thoughts and you could win 1 of the 10 gift cards from Family Fresh and Kwik Trip.

Women’s Health

Karlyn enjoys working with patients who are self-confident and engaged in their own care. However, she realizes that not everyone looks forward to visits with a health care provider. Some people have felt unheard or disrespected. Karlyn approaches each person by actively listening, treating her patients as equal partners, offering her expertise, and then respecting each patient’s goals. She strives to build trust and make a connection at every visit. To learn more about her credentials and certifications click here.
