The Rivers Cancer Center Open House & Accreditation Celebration is scheduled for May 25, 2011 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the River Falls Area Hospital. The event is open to the public and will feature a ceremonial tree and flower planting, kettle corn provided by Palmers Kettlecorn – one of the Rivers Cancer Center patients, gift bags to the first 200 guests, food and beverages, inspirational patient video, and local musicians Tommy Bentz and Chris Silver. Attendees will also have a chance to win an iPad.
A short program at 5 p.m. will honor patients and also feature a keynote from Ron Schara from the television program, Minnesota Bound, which airs on Kare 11. Attendees are welcome to get their picture with Ron’s dog, Raven who is the unspoken star of the program. The program will conclude with The program will conclude with an announcement by the River Falls Area Hospital Foundation and a ribbon cutting by the River Falls Chamber of Commerce ambassadors a ribbon cutting by the River Falls Chamber of Commerce ambassadors.
Other highlights include guided tours, “ask the doctors,” skin cancer screenings, and informational videos.
About The Rivers Cancer Center
The Rivers Cancer Center, a collaborative partnership between the River Falls Medical Clinic, the River Falls Area Hospital, and Minnesota Oncology, to provide local, comprehensive cancer care services to patients with cancer in western Wisconsin, has recently earned the 3-Year Accreditation with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC). The Rivers Cancer Center is the only critical access hospital in the state of Wisconsin to earn this honor, and the only CoC-approved cancer program between Maplewood, Minnesota and Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
CoC Accreditation is granted to cancer care programs that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment and comply with established CoC standards. Three-Year with Commendation is given to new or established cancer programs that comply with all standards and receives a commendation rating for one or more standards.
