Join Vibrant Health as we sponsor the Coaches v. Cancer halftime event at the UWRF Men’s Basketball Game on Wed., Jan. 25 at Karges Center. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Relay for Life scheduled for March 24 – March 25 at the River Falls High School.
About the Relay for Life:
Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it’s time to take action against cancer. Donations from the Relay for Life are used to fund live-saving cancer research, patient support programs, prevention information and education, and detection and treatment programs.
About Coaches vs. Cancer:
The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
What: UWRF Men’s Basketball Coaches vs. Cancer
When: Wednesday, January 25
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Where: UWRF Karges Gymnasium on Cascade Ave.
- Honorary Falcons (cancer survivors or caregivers selected by the players) will be escorted in at the beginning of the game.
- At half-time, 90 seconds will be put on the clock representing that 90 people per day are diagnosed with cancer in Wisconsin. UWRF students will run around to fans to collect change and bills and total will be announced at the end of half time.
- In addition, 4 previous BB players will take a 30 second challenge to make as many free throws/3 pointers to raise money for the Relay for Life. Every basket is worth $10 (up to the sponsorship amount provided by Vibrant Health).
